Gandlati Consulting (Pty) Ltd is a proudly South African and privately held company that is a Level 1 B-BBEE contributor. The company provides engineering and technology solutions to an array of public and private sector clients. The solutions include water security appraisal, water resource management, water conservation and demand management. infrastructure delivery and asset management, and technology management. To leverage this offering, we also offer technology-driven solutions or products for effective water management, development surveillance, infrastructure management and process automation.

The company was incorporated as a separate and focussed entity in 2017, while its roots are traceable to the advent of the democratic era in South Africa. Its establishment followed immediately after the reconfiguration of the operations of Gandlati Strategic Equity (Pty) Ltd – an advisory and strategic investments company that was formed in 2009. This company was founded soon after disinvestments from several business enterprises that included one of the pioneering, black-owned, engineering firms in 1995.
The word Gandlati refers to an ocean wave or tide in xiTsonga, one of the South Africa’s official languages. Such waves emerge when the wind blows over the ocean to create small ripples that become amplified as majestically move towards a coastline, rising and falling repeatedly with regularity. In each instance, as they ascend, these waves gather energy in one form and release it in another while being it is transferred to the next as they descend. This sublime motion inspired our name choice as we deemed it emblematic of the agility, tenacity and consistency needed to navigate an increasingly connected and dynamic world.

Dr Musa S Furumele
Managing Director
Gandlati currently operates under the leadership of Dr Musa S Furumele. He has vast knowledge and expertise in key aspects of water security, infrastructure delivery, and technology management drawn out of a career that traversed academia, government and the private sector. Musa is a registered Professional Engineer with a PhD in technology and innovation management and is a Fellow of both the South African Institution of Civil Engineering and South African Academy of Engineering. He also served on governing bodies of several engineering companies and public water utilities.
